Kick Ass

Also one we watched a while back and just didn't get around to writing about it.

So, this movie is totally "geek-y". I kind of feel embarrassed to say I watched it. It is about this dorky kid and his friends. He is totally obsessed with comic books and super heroes. He asks his friends "Why does no one try to be a super hero?" Dumb question if you ask me...and his friends thought so too. But, he was determined to become a super hero. So he gets a costume and gets started. He makes a fool of himself, gets beat up a lot....and ends up with some other crazy people who think that they are super heroes too. Crazy, I know! That's what I thought as we watched it. I can't believe I actually watched this.....

I, personally, would NOT recommend this movie. I thought it was silly and not worth the money...even from the redbox. But, that is just my opinion.

Bounty Hunter

We watched this one a few weekends ago...I am just playing catch up tonight! :)

This one was surprisingly good. Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler were great together. I wasn't expecting it to be super awesome since Jennifer Aniston's movies are not usually the best.

So, Jennifer Aniston's character is a news reporter who has missed her court date a few times. So, she is turned in to a bounty hunter...who happens to be her ex-husband. Funny situation right?! It made for some good laughs, but most of them were shown in the previews on TV. Kind of disappointing, but I still laughed, so they must have been funny right?

Anyways, it would be a good one to rent. Cute and funny.

Killers

September 10, 2010

I have to say, this movie was better than I thought it would be. It WAS predictable and totally unrealistic, but not too shabby. It had it's funny moments too.

Basically the story goes.... Katherine Heigl goes on vacation with her parents to France. She meets "The perfect guy" and falls for him. But...little does she know, he is a CIA agent. Ashton Kutcher plays this "perfect guy." They end up getting married and living a perfect life. He doesn't tell her about being a spy...until he HAS to. And that is where it gets interesting. There were several moments where I thought this part was WAY to serious for Ashton, I guess because he usually plays the "funny guy" in movies. But, he did ok with the serious moments. Catherine O'Hara (who plays Katherine's mom) was HILARIOUS! Her character was pretty much an alcoholic, and some of the things she did were so funny!

We think you should see this one. It is cute and funny, but not outstanding. It made a good Friday night movie for us!

Date Night

August 13, 2010

Ok, let's just say this: Steve Carell and Tina Fey are two of the funniest people on Earth. But....this movie was not as good as we thought it was going to be. I guess I had high expectations, because I feel a little let down right now.
The movie had a great story line: boring couple from New Jersey goes on a fancy date night in New York City. Basically the date goes wrong and they end up caught up in a bad situation. There were some funny parts, but most of them I had seen on the commercials and previews. So, not much surprise there. The story was kind of predictable in parts too. Not very exciting but not super dull either.

Do we think you should rent it? Yes! It was definitely "rentable." (Yes, that is a word....I just invented it.)

There is only one thing to say about this movie...AMAZING! James Cameron has the imagination that everyone else should envy. He has created this totally fantasy world where the habitants are completely "one with nature" in a way.
The story of this tribe of "beings" is so interesting that you almost forget it is not real. I had to remind myself several times that this was all digital. It looks so real, it tricks your brain.
I loved how the love story was inter-twined in the movie. Most of the movie was about overcoming unbeatable odds, but there is a hidden love story as well.

Great movie, highly recommended by both of us. Rent it as soon as you can. It took us awhile to watch it, but it was worth the wait. Awesome. Just awesome.

The Box

We love movies and enjoy spending weekends watching new flicks, so we decided to put our opinions about the movies here for other to see. We thought this would be helpful for those who frequent movie rental stores or Red Box kiosks. We will use a 1 to 10 rating scale of all movies at the end of each post. (1 being the worst and 10 being the best.)

We hope you enjoy our review of our weekend movies.

Tonight we watched "The Box" starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden. It was and interesting topic, but not satisfying. It was very strange, even creepy at times.

The idea of the movie is this: A couple receives a box with a button. If they push the button, they get $1,000,000 with no questions asked. But....a person they do not know dies. Interesting idea....you would think. But the plot thickens and things become weird. Almost science fiction like.

If you are looking for a movie that makes you think, then this it. But if you are looking for a GOOD movie, this is NOT it. We did not enjoy this flick.....unless you are at the Red Box an there is nothing else available.
